Strange traditions:St.Nicolas' Day
When I was a kid,I always looked forward to celebrating St.Nicolas' Day.On December 5 each year,one of the older men at my church would dress up as St.Nicolas in traditional bishop' s robes and pass out delicious gingerbread cookies the size of my head.
Usually,on St.Nicolas' Day,there are a group of three people.One is dressed up as St.Nicolas,one as a devil,and another as an angel.They set out into the night to judge the children of the Czech Republic.They decide which ones has been naughty or nice.The good ones will get candies.The bad ones will get shoved into the devil ' s sack to be " taken to hell."
On December 5,2000,I arrived at the Old Town Square at 5:30 p.m.with my parents.Unluckily,I was thought of as a bad boy this time.The guy who dressed up as the devil dragged me to a corner.He was wearing a spooky mask.I was scared to tears.But my mum and dad were laughing loudest when I was having the worst time in my life.
Although it 's a strange tradition,St.Nicolas' Day is my favorite holiday.
