The story takes place in the peaceful town Timberline.A bear named Elliot is the star of the town,and lives a comfortable life in the garage of his owner.
One day,a hunter named Shaw drives into the town with a deer named Boog.Shaw believes that animals are dangerous,"So we have to get them before they get us!"
Boog asks Elliot for help,and Elliot frees him.That night,Boog follows Elliot home.He plans to "free" Elliot from his garage"cage." But when the bear discovers his power as a bear,things get out of control and the two run away into the wild-only three days before the start of open season and the arrival of Shaw!Elliot has no bear skills,and Boog is a bad teacher.In the end,they become good friends,and unite the woodland friends to make their world safe again.
