Gambling is legal in some countried or some parts of a country. For example, it is legal to gamble in Singapore, Germany and a lot of states in the U.S. However, gambling is still illegal in China.
I think there are both benefits and shortcomings to legalize gambling. Gambling legalization can attract a lot of people to come to the area. Besides, casinos may also become one of the places of interest in that area. For example, almost everyone who goes to Las Vegas will visit at least one caniso. There is no doubt that gambling can bring a lot of financial advantage to the area.However, there are also shortcomings. Because of the increased population, the rate of crimes may increase. Especially when people lose all their money in casinos, it's not hard to imagine how extreme can those people be.
Balancing the financial benefits of gambling legalization and the serious safety issues that may cause, I think gambling can only be legalized when there is an efficient set of rules that can prevent most safety issues. The obvious reason is that any government cannot sacrifice its residents' safety merely for financial gains.
