sensor installation instructions
NOTE:Sensor 12-00385-01sv has a self contained positioning sleeve,this sleeve will act as a "stop",which reduces movement of the sensor within the conduit when pulled at the sensor wires.(see Figure C) This sensor configuration may also be used for return air operation.A replacement cushion clamp is provided if this sensor,is to be used as a return probe.
To properly position the unit supply sensors,the sensor sheath must be fully inserted through the small hole at base of the conduit.This positioning will give the sensor the optimum amount of the exposure to the supply air and will allow the control due to the lack of air flow over the sensor and the subsequent detection of air temperature within the conduit.
It is also necessary to ensure that the probe tip does not contact the evaporator backpanel.A minimum clearance of 0.25 inches(6mm) .should be maintained.
Replacing Temperature Sensor
1.turn unit power off and disconnect power supply
2.Cut cable 2 inches from shoulder of defective sensor and discard defective probe
3.Cut one wire of existing cable 1 5/8" (41mm) shorter than the other wire.
4.Cut one replacement sensor wire (opposite color) back 1-5/8"(41mm)
5.Strip back insulation on all wiring 1/4"(6.35mm)
6.Slide a large piece of heat shrink tubing over cable and the two small pieces of heat shrink over the wires before adding crimp fittings as shown in Figure B.
7.Slip crimp fittings over dressed wires(Keep like colors together).Make sure the wire are pushed into crimp fittings as for as possible and crimp with crimping tool.
8.Slide heat shrink tubing over splice so that both ends of tubing cover both ends of crimp as shown in Figure B
9.Heat tubing,,preferably with a flameless heat gun.If not available,a propance torch will work(caution should be taken not to burn the heat shrink tubing or wire insulation).Make sure all seams are sealed tighter against the wiring to prevent moisture seepage.
10.Slide large heat shrink tubing over both splices and heat to shrink tubing as in step 9.
NOTE:Do not allow moisture to enter wire.splice area as this may affect the sensor resistance.
11.Secure sensor to unit and check resistance.
