Getting into art
Do you feel inspired to a splatter paint on canvas or to create big abstract paintings in rich panels of colour?Have you ever wanted to express your feeling through art?If so,then maybe you should brush up on your art skills and learn more about different movements in art.
Build up your technique
Nearly every abstract painter or sculptor learned how to draw first. So,get sketching everything and anything, from pets and curtains to still lives and landscapes!Think about how to depict different shapes and forms, colours ,and textures.Experiment with different media, from pencil and charcoal to ink and paint.Try making paintings not only with brushes, but also using palette knives and sponges or by pouring and splattering colours. There is no right or wrong way to express yourself through art,so don’t be afraid to use lots of paper as you build up your technique.
Study and inspiration
Once you know you are really serious about art,you will need to study. The obvious first step is to choose art as a study subject at school. However, art lessons last only a few hours per week,so make more time for your art by joining lunchtime or after school art clubs,or by attending classes at a local college, museum,or gallery.Your aim should be to try out different styles and media until you find one that you feel comfortable with. The next step is going to art college. Here you will find a wider range of art opportunities and meet other people keen on art.
Through all this study you will need some inspiration. For that, head to art galleries and museums. You will be able to see examples of art from many different movements in art, including Abstract Expressionism.Pictures in books and on the Internet, films, and TV programmes all help to give an idea of paintings and sculptures, but seeing them for real lets you appreciate and contemplate the textures, materials, colors, and size in completely different ways.
