to me''.Sometimes competent staff were ``poached back'' after leaving to work
for another employer and,indeed,the hiring of former employees was common,
especially in the road haulage industry,where drivers often moved around from
one company to another.In all sectors,apart from road haulage where drivers
have to be at least 21 to train,some firms recruited direct from local educational
establishments.
