It seems that many of the students at school are so careless that they don't pay any attention to their spellings.Everybody understands that it is one of the defects of our education system. The main reasons for that,perhaps,are two as follows:
First of all,many students are taken good care by their parents at home.They are short of the living experience,including the nature of carefulness.Therefore,they gradually form the habit of the carefulness in their study.
Secondly,frankly speaking,some of the teachers in the school are not so strict with their students in their lessons.Such kind of teachers are no responsible enough in their teaching.
If we want to change the situation.we must take some practical measures in every class.And we can hold some activities to stimulate the students' confidence and responsiblity in their study.

Many students today seldom pay much attention to spelling in their English writing. Just a quick glance over a student's paper will many spelling errors. Some very common mistakes even effect the meaning, for example,"he" vs "she"; "fried" vs "friend".
The reasons for misspelling are simple. Many students hold the idea that small things do not matter-----and spelling seems to be a small thing. With this view of life, a general attitude of laziness and carelessness quickly prevails.
I think spelling competition could be a fun way to change this situation, but more effective approaches are also neccessary. English teachers should point out spelling errors to remind students that little things in life are truly important.

How do we pay attention to our spelling mistakes?This is the question asked by my dear English teacher.
On the one hand,I'd like to say something about the reasons why we make spelling mistakes now and then.Often our vocabulary is limited and we can't remember them clearly.Besides,we memorise some of the words wrongly.And sometimes we are not attentive when we are spelling English words.
On the other hand,let me tell you how we can avoid these mistakes when writing.We should work hard at English every day in order to memorize all the commonly used words.What's more,we should look up the dictionary when we cannot spell the words which we want to write down correctly.Of course,we can turn to our classmates and teachers for help when we are not able to spell a word.
