正确语序是those who rated their health as "excellent" were, were 指 die,指那些身体状况超好的人与前者(身体状况不好者)作比较的一种状态。如果 "those were", 一般人会期待were后有什么,were什么呢?倒装就解决了这个问题,were在前面,就不用期待什么了。
是倒装,没错
为什么要倒装呢?笼统地讲,倒装一般都是为了强调,把需要强调的句子成分提前到开头,在“比较”的句型里还是比较常见的.
在这个具体例句里呢,主要是因为【those who rated their health as “excellent】这个比较对象比较长,如果把were按照正常语序放到尾巴上的话呢,这句子就“战线拖太长”,看了半天看不到动词.因为我们一般认为一个句子的核心是它的谓语(动词),而动词一般比较短,主语有时候就像这里一样会比较长,所以动词提前,就相当于更清晰简短地表达意思.
具体什么时候要倒装,什么时候不要,这个我觉得得靠语感.尤其在这种“比较”的句子里,很多时候是用不用倒装都挺舒服的,就是两种说法而已,很难说这个时候就一定得用倒装.
拿中文举个(可能不恰当的)例子:
正常语序 【你干嘛呀?】
口语中的“倒装” (广义上的动词提前,语法上不一定管这叫倒装)【干嘛呀你?】
至少在我看来,后一种更准确地体现了那种“强调”的“口感”...
个人认为不是每个英文句子倒装都一定会有这个“清晰简短”的效果,但是整体上说,大家久而久之成了习惯,遇到这个结构的句子就都会用倒装了.比如说你这个例句吧,其实直接把were省略了,更简洁呢,管它倒不倒装,但是人家就是会这么说...╮(╯_╰)╭
