where是连接副词，在从句中充当状语。两句的从句都是缺哪里的意思

1是地点状语从句。
2是定语从句，the places是先行词，关系副词where引导的定语从句修饰places，where在句中作状语。

这个有没有the place你不要介意.你可以把the place 当做和 the school、the city 这些一样,知道他们是表示地点的就行了.
句子中没有指明地点的,比如你题中第一句,那么where引导的从句就做状语修饰谓语动词；
前面有地点的,比如你题中第二句,这时候where引导的从句就是做定语修饰前面的地点.
因此,光从结构上说,有没有the place,只是引起where从句的功能发生变化,对句意没有影响.
