The shepherd-boy painter (Ⅰ)
The shepherd-boy painter (Ⅰ)
ONE day,a traveler (旅行者) was walking. He saw that a little shepherd boy was sitting near a flat rock (平坦的大石头) while a great many sheep (羊) were eating grass around him.
As the traveler came nearer,he saw that there was a charred stick (烧焦的枝条) in the boy’s right hand.He was drawing something on the rock. The boy was so much interested in his work that he did not see the traveler.
The traveler went to the boy and looked at the picture the boy had made on the rock.It was the picture of a sheep, and it was drawn so well that the traveler was very happy.
“What is your name,my boy?” he asked.
The boy was startled (震惊的).He jumped to his feet and looked up at the traveler.
“My name is Giotto,” he answered.
“What is your father’s name?”
“Bondone.”
“And whose sheep are these?”
“Look at that white house! There is a man living there. The sheep are his.I look after the sheep for him.” “Would you like to live with me,Giotto?I will teach you how to draw pictures of sheep and horses, even of men,” said the traveler. The boy was happy.“I should like to learn to do that — oh,ever so much!” he answered.“But I must ask my father first.” “Let’s go and ask him,” said the traveler.(235 words)

“这些绵羊都是谁(拥有)的?”
“看那所白色的房子,里面住了一个人,这些绵羊都是他的.我帮他照看这些绵羊.” “你想和我一起生活吗,Giotto?我会教你如何画绵羊,画马,还有画人”旅客说.男孩非常开心,“我很想去学会画画,非常非常想”男孩回答说,“但是我必须先问问我爸爸(的意见)” “好啊,那就一起去问问你爸爸”旅客说.
