在定语从句中,that作为关系代词只能代指物,根本不可能指人,不信你就找例句看看,要么是你记错了,要么就是你的语法书错了.当先行词被the only修饰时,是关系代词that、which的用法辨析,因为他们俩同是关系代词且同指物 ,因此才有了那么多关于到底什么时候用that什么时候用which的规则.而这里面的先行词是workers是人,根本就不会涉及那个辨析,所以是楼主记错了.

我比较好奇,你确定这一题A是for that而不是for what?恩我察看了一遍，就是for that想了很久，我想的到的解释首先要明确一点give sb sth=give sth to sb所以后面的 for your absence from school并不是give的宾语因此，在后面的从句you gave for your absence from school中，give缺宾语this is the reason for that which you gave for your absence from schoolwhich引导的定语从句在从句中做宾语省略了如果是B，后面应该再添一个for what，这样就变成了宾语从句我不知道我的解释你能明白不？
