Everybody talks about the weather in England and this is not surprising. It changes from minute to minute,so it's always interesting.Someone once widely remarked that other countries have a climate, but England just has weather!Jane was amused by all this talk at first, but she has got used to it now.
Last week Jane really understood why everyone is so concerned about the weather:you can never be certain what's going to happen.Though it was spring, there was a very heavy snowfall.as usual,no one expected it.The pipes in many houses were frozen; trains failed to run; cars got stuck; there were many accidents on the roads; lots of people slipped on the icy pavements and got hurt, the weather forecast was very bad.Everyone complained,"What terrible weather we're having!Haven't seen anything like it!" and so on.And then, suddenly, the sun came out,the snow melted and it was spring again.
Does the weather in England often change?
Where was Jane last week?
What was there though it was spring?
What would happen when there was a heavy snowfall?
What do you think of the weather in England?
Long ago people in England used to tell their children that the moon was made of green cheese.Everyone knows that this is __1__ true. The moon is a large round rock.It is completely bare. There are no tree __2__ plants on the moon. There are no rivers or seas. There are no __3__ things. It never rains on the moon, and everything is covered wuth dry, white dust. Not even a sound can be __4__ on the moon.
When the sun shines on it,the moon is very hot; in the shade, however,it is as cold as ice.
The moon is __5__ smaller than the earth. It does not weigh as much as the earth. If you went to the moon, you would weigh six times less than you do now.Even a fat man would be able to jump high off the ground.
