First, old American live alone or go to the nursing homes, as they dislike being dependent on others, even family members. A son or a daughter has no legal obligation to support his or her parents. While old Chinese people usually live with their children because the notion that it is individual’s responsibility to look after his parents is deeply rooted in Chinese’s minds.
Second, they live different life. American joke about how many years young they are , rather than how many years old. They are active, energetic. After retirement, some senior citizens don’t give up on their work. It is however a different scene in China. Many old people feel they have one foot in the grave. They spend most of their time looking after their grandchildren. Now they are encouraged to think for themselves, take part in activities fit for them to make the rest of life meaningful and colorful.

With different culture background and lifestyle, people of different countries live in different ways. When it comes to the question of the difference between the old in CHina and those in the U.S.A, i think there are main three points that we should know. Firstly, the old in China still have burdens for their families. For example, the old raise the children of their sons or daughters. However, in the U.S.A, the old and the young do not live under the same roof. Secondly, the old in the U.S.A enjoy higher social welfare and prestiges than those in China. As America is a developed country, it has well-established social welfare systems that could ensure the well-being of the old. But the old in China could only support themselves with a small amount of retiring fees. Lastly, the old in the U.S.A live a happier and healthier life than those in the China do. People in the U.S.A put great emphasis on health-care and the value of life. Therefore, they spend most of their time on their hobbies or going trips to somewhere else. Moreover, the old in the U.S.A do not care about their families like Chinese old people normally do.
From the above analyses, we can see that there are so many difference between the old in CHina and those in the U.S.A. The olders in China are very fortunately, and most of them live with their sons or daughters. And the childrens take care of their fathers or mothers, too. In China, the government also announce some legals and policy to protect the olders basic life and medical care.
In America, the oleders usually live alone, the childrens may go home and take a look of them by serval months. Although them enjoying the high quality live, but they loss the basic care of their childdren.
So, there are some diffrents between the chinese olders and american olders. But I think their future is good and the government will take more attention on the olders and by social progress, the young childdrens will also take more focus on their fathers and mothers.
