题中所说的应该是声音.
across是指横穿,
英文释义from one side to the other side of sth.是从一边到另一边
用这里不合适
through是指穿过,
英文释义into one side or end of an entrance,passage,hole etc and out of the other side or end
这个是要穿进去的.
此题的room明显是一个空间,而不是横面.所以选through我也觉得你是对的，但我做的完型阅读里面却是用的across啊，咋回事啊？对不起。本人不才。我去查了一下。是我的错误。

所以我想本句表达的是在对面的意思。
