这个应该这么想：influenced by 和 because 其实是一回事儿
这句话可以写成：Because of continued inflation and loss of faith in the dollar, the price of gold increased(or "has been influenced").
也可以写成：Because people have lost faith in the dollar and the dollar continued inflating, the price of gold has been influenced.
如果我要把上一句的两个the dollar 省略写在一起：continued inflation(of the dollar) and loss of faith in the dollar influenced the price of gold.
再反过来写就是一样的了。要知道英语里面because 和influenced by 其实经常可以表述相同的意思，原则是不管用哪个，表意一定要简洁。

因为连词and可连接2个同状态的名词
inflation 名词，通货膨胀
loss of faith 名词词组 信心的丧失
黄金的价格一直受到持续通货膨胀和人们信心丧失的影响。

1.losing faith 分词没有逻辑主语，如果硬要用losing faith的话前面要加its(gold's),分词主语和主句主语不同，而SAT规定一定要用所有格来表示逻辑主语）
2.不平行，如果是losing的话，前面continued应改为continuing，而continuing不符合逻辑，losing也不符合逻辑（因为表主动）

The price of gold has been influenced by continued inflation and loss of faith in the dollar.
这句话的意思是：由于持续的通货膨胀（inflation）和（人们）对美元信心的缺失（loss of faith），黄金的价格受到影响。
之所以要换成loss of faith，是因为“and”要连接两个或多个“对等”的成分（词与词，短语与短语，句子与句子）。continued inflation是短语，而because people have lost faith in the dollar却是一个句子。
