avert,prevent,avoid请问这三个词可以通用吗?还是分情况使用?

意思差不多，但用法不一样。
avert 多用于被动语态， be averted。
avoid 多用于 avoid sb/sth 或 avoid doing sth。
prevent 用于 prevent sb from doing sth 或 prevent 某种 disease。
e.g.
doctors advise us to avoid using too many antibiotics. it is much wiser to try to prevent disease.
we must try to prevent them from abusing their power.
he has been trying to avoid me in the last few days.
thanks to his effort, a split in the party was averted.
i think you have to learn to use the computer. i don't see how anyone can avoid it.
