通过对汪曾祺晚期小说总体艺术成就和特色的研究,总结汪在文体多元化和题材民族化方面的贡献,透析其晚期作品中朴素的人道主义关怀和乡间意蕴美,说明新时期文学发展过程中的新文学样式（散文化,诗化的乡土小说）对整个文坛的繁荣所起到的作用,以及这种文学样式使人们从伤痕文学中解脱出来并投入新的创作领域的文学现象.
